Fit the First

In this, Arthur discovers that his friend Ford is not from Guilford after all, but from a small planet somewhrere in the vicinity of Betelgeuse. The Vogons destroy the planet Earth to make way for a hyperspace bypass and Arthur and Ford escape on one of the Vogon Constructor Ships, only to be read the third worst poetry in the universe and the choice between life and death.

Fit the Second

In this, Arthur and Ford are thrown off the Vogon ship and rescued at the crucial moment by Zaphod Beeblebrox, President of the Galaxy, Trillian, a rather nice looking ape descendant Arthur once met at a party, and Marvin the Paranoid Android.
